High Falls Aurora Perseid on 8/11/2024 at 11:07pm
It's a special night when two astronomical events perfectly align. In this case, it was the peak of the Perseid meteor shower occurring during a G3 geomagnetic storm.
Once on site, the aurora was blazing away in all of its glory. But could I also catch a Perseid meteor? I spent over an hour shooting the scene from various locations. It wasn't until the next day when I found two shots with a streaking meteor. Success!
