I've been waiting for a chance to shoot the aurora at this location for quite some time. The perfect opportunity came Monday night, when a CME from a long duration X class flare impacted earlier in the day.
After a 3-hour drive, I arrived on site to a faint aurora and sub-zero temperatures. 90 minutes later, I got the shot I wanted along with several frozen fingers. Totally worth it!
